My Great day in New York

Thanks to my friend Collin I was able to see one of the great museums of art in the world next to my favorite place Musee D'orsay .he day started out not the best because someone, Collin, told me not to eat breakfast. He said I had to save my hunger for Hala. He was totally right. It was the best rice taziki sauce and gyro I have ever had, and I am a big fan of gyros. Then we spent hours just wandering the museum seeing everything painting and sculpture sometimes laughing and sometimes just starring at the painting taking in the art.

The day got even better. after watching a episode of Kitchen Nightmares about a brick oven pizza place I had an overwhelming craving for pizza and a place called Grimaldi's. After waiting in line outside and then waiting for our pizza I was soo hungry. The pizza was totally worth it.

Company Baseball Game

I have a great internship. I got to go to my first professional baseball game. A Mets game!! When we got there it was beautiful the sun was out and it wasn't too hot and there was food and beer for everyone. Thanks to Linda and Vicha. By the time the game started it was 9 pm and I was already ready to go home. It did get better the more beer Erin bought me. it was a game with fireworks and in the middle of the firework show the music stopped and we could tell there was a technical problem. We all looked at each other and said "It's just like one of our gigs" it was funny we all started laughing. I think that is the only problem with working on events is that you see every problem that happens during an event where as most people don't even notice.

Engadget show

I love trade shows but I never knew how much work it was to put one together from start to finish in one day. I showed up at 8 but people got there at 6am. Furiture was there, party rental was there and after being there for an hour so was the frieght for the rest of the show. The facility was on the bottom floor of the building and to get there you have to go down a flieght of stairs. there was one elevator operated by an old small asian man. the frieght was carried up and down from the street level then put to the appropriate booth. figuring out what booth things went to was hard because they weren't clearly labeled with the booth number or name of vendor. so we had to search thorough the various labels on the boxes to find where they go.

After this there were trips back and forth from best buy to get small parts for the tvs and other small things for exhibitors. as the show started I was selling drink tickets which weren't selling as expected mostly because the whole space was filled a lot of nerds. in addition there wasn't any food I would have much rather had food than drinks. The only food was a asian inspired taco truck outside which was really good. then things started to load out I left around 11 which was find because I was back in soho at 8 the next morning.

Are some events worth all the work?

In the last few days I have been working on a project for a client's 70th birthday party. after spending a whole day scanning and one and a half days organizing and editing then a day putting all these photos into  power point and movie to display during her birthday party. Is it worth the hours of work for a two hour event.

The last few days

I haven’t done anything super exciting lately but I have done a lot of really cool small things. Now that it is official I can tell you that Madonna has hired us to show teasers of her new movie MDMA. It is really exciting but better not turn out like the Kanye West job. Which by the way is over after tonight.
I am Really glad about that. Our team didn’t have much time to scout out locations and find people to run the equipment and drive vans around to US. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian had their baby on Sunday, a baby girl. I think Erin had a great idea about how to release the name of the baby to the world. Instead of playing the regular “New Slaves” video we show a picture of the baby with the name. unfortunatly Kanye didn’t have the same idea. Instead he plays some video with Scott Deistic doing some American Psyco video, needless to say I haven’t seen it.
But some other interesting things have happened. I worked on an event for Erin. It was a surprise 70th birthday party. The décor and food were amazing. My job was to take a car service to Dumbo, Brooklyn and pick up a crock en buche then go to party city and pick up napkins and regular sized spoons.

The bakery that I went to was a small French place. The chef was very French, I am French but this guy had the accent and everything. What he made was beautiful in the shape of a tower was cream-puffs with vanilla or mocha cream covered in a honey sugar to make it stick together Then in addition to that there were sugar pieces attached. It was beautiful. The chef helped me put it in the car and off we went to party city.

The Made in NY Awards

I know it is Wednesday but I just complied all the photos and videos from The Made in NY Awards.

This was a great event and learning experience my only wish is that it wasn't raining all day. I was late getting out of the house and came all the way from my home in Flemington to my office in Williamsburg. By the time I got there it was 10 and I had to be in the city at 12. So I spent my time resting and getting directions.

It rained and rained as I was walking from the subway to Gracie Mansion, thank god I brought my rain boots from home. Of course my luck gracie mansion was the farthest you can be from the subway. the grounds were beautiful it was almost like I was back in a park in Flemington. The house is a southern victorian house with a wrap around deck. The event was outside under a tent so I didn't get to go inside.

The tent was already set up when I got there. the people that were working the sound were there and working on setting benches and tables for guests. When the truck got to Gracie mansion we unloaded and I set myself the task of setting up the tent behind the tent to hold the lighting equipment. and of course as I was doing this it was raining.

After working on other odds and ends I was sent to get everyone lunch. The production assistants were all soaking wet from the rain and hungry coffee, tea and sandwiches were necessary. Brought back granola bars, sandwiches and 6 cups of hot beverages. In my head I was thinking how am I going to walk all of this back to Gracie Mansion. The solution was very innovated  The small asian women behind the counter put the cups into small paper bags and then into large paper bag. I walked about two blocks and nothing in the bag spilled.

After everyone had a much needed lunch, everything came together. A photo booth was set up cupcakes setup and lights ready to go then we just waiting until the guests arrive.

That was it then the event started we got to see some awesome people. Here are pictures and videos from that night.
